Simultaneous Determination of Sodium and Sulfate Ions on Zodiac HST N Mixed-mode HILIC Column

Inorganic cations and anions are traditionally analyzed using separate cation-exchange and anion-exchange methods, requiring the development and validation of two independent protocols. However, both ion types can be simultaneously analyzed using a Zodiac HST N mixed-mode HILIC/ion-exchange column. The retention of both cations and anions is achieved through a combination of hydrophilic interaction and ion-exchange mechanisms. Detection is compatible with ELSD, offering a unified and efficient approach for comprehensive ionic analysis.
