Description
Trisaccharides present a challenge for separation on conventional HPLC columns due to their structural similarities. Panose, raffinose, isomaltotriose, and kestose all share the same chemical formula and consist of three monosaccharides linked by two glycosidic bonds.
Zodiac HST N, a highly polar stationary phase, was used to successfully separate these trisaccharides. Its ability to employ multiple retention mechanisms makes it ideal for resolving compounds that differ only in regio- and stereochemistry. Despite their close structural resemblance, these trisaccharides were effectively resolved using this method.
