Description
N-Nitrosarcosine is a highly polar compound with a LogP of –0.5. It is a nitro derivative of glycine and exhibits mildly acidic properties. An HPLC method was developed using the Zodiac HST N column operated in mixed-mode HILIC. Retention of N-nitrosarcosine is achieved through a combination of hydrophilic interaction and anion-exchange mechanisms.
The compound exists in two distinct forms that can be effectively separated by adjusting the pH of the mobile phase. The method is fully LC/MS compatible and employs ammonium formate as a volatile mobile phase additive.
