HPLC Separation of Maleic Acid and Pentaerythritol on Zodiac HST N Column

Home HPLC Separation of Maleic Acid and Pentaerythritol on Zodiac HST N Column

Description

Maleic acid is a small, hydrophilic acid that exhibits poor retention in traditional reversed-phase chromatography. Pentaerythritol is a neutral hydrophilic compound. A mixed-mode HILIC/anion-exchange method was developed using the Zodiac HST N HPLC column. Retention of maleic acid is influenced by the acetonitrile content, buffer pH, and buffer concentration, while the retention of pentaerythritol is primarily controlled by the acetonitrile level. The method is fully compatible with both LC/MS and ELSD/CAD detection.
