HPLC Separation of Barium Cation in the Presence of Citric Acid, Sucrose and Tween 80

Home HPLC Separation of Barium Cation in the Presence of Citric Acid, Sucrose and Tween 80

Description

Barium ion and citric acid can be effectively analyzed in the presence of sucrose and Tween 80 using the Zodiac HST N HILIC mixed-mode column. In this method, both analytes are retained primarily through ion-exchange interactions, with HILIC retention not playing a significant role.

The Zodiac HST N column features both basic and acidic ion-exchange groups connected via a long hydrophilic spacer. This unique structure enables simultaneous cation- and anion-exchange mechanisms, allowing for versatile retention of charged species. The column is suitable for analyzing both cations and anions under ion-exchange or mixed-mode HILIC/ion-exchange conditions. Detection can be carried out using ELSD, CAD, or LC/MS techniques.
