Sodium azide, a highly toxic compound, has been widely used in older automotive airbag systems and aircraft escape slides. The Zodiac HST N mixed-mode column effectively retains the azide ion using an LC/MS-compatible mobile phase composed of acetonitrile (ACN), water, and ammonium acetate as a buffer. This method also allows for UV detection at 250 nm.
