Control of Cation Exchange Properties by pH of Zodiac HST C Column

Zodiac HST C showcases the tunable ion-exchange characteristics of Zodiac HST columns. In a mixture containing caffeine, benzylamine, and phenol, the elution order of caffeine and benzylamine is reversed when the mobile phase modifier is switched from ammonium acetate to trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). This demonstrates that separation can be effectively controlled using mass spectrometry (LC/MS)-compatible mobile phases such as water, acetonitrile (MeCN or ACN), and either ammonium acetate or TFA.
