Comparison of Zodiac HST N, SeQuant?® HILIC, and Bare Silica

Home Comparison of Zodiac HST N, SeQuant?® HILIC, and Bare Silica

Description

Zodiac HST N mixed-mode columns offer unique selectivity compared to conventional HILIC columns, thanks to the presence of an integrated ion-exchange mechanism. This dual retention mode allows for enhanced or suppressed ion-exchange interactions based on the pH of the mobile phase, giving greater flexibility and control over separation.

A set of representative compounds—including two amino acids (glycine and glycylglycine), two basic analytes (triethanolamine and TRIS), and two zwitterionic substances (MOPS and MES)—can be effectively separated using a combination of HILIC and ion-exchange mechanisms. The elution of these analytes can be detected using Evaporative Light-Scattering Detection (ELSD), Charged Aerosol Detection (CAD), LC-MS, or other suitable detection methods.
