Simultaneous Monitoring of Nickel and Organic Compounds in Hydrogenation Reaction Using Mixed-Mode HPLC

Home Simultaneous Monitoring of Nickel and Organic Compounds in Hydrogenation Reaction Using Mixed-Mode HPLC

Description

This method demonstrates the use of the Zodiac HST OG mixed-mode HPLC column for the simultaneous analysis of inorganic (Ni²⁺) and organic compounds (Compound A and Product B) in a catalytic hydrogenation reaction. The column effectively separates metal ions and organic analytes under a single chromatographic run.

The analysis was performed using a 150 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm Zodiac HST OG column at 45°C with a mobile phase of Water/Acetonitrile/TFA (60/40/0.1) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Detection was achieved via ELSD for non-UV-active species (e.g., Ni²⁺) and UV at 245 nm for organic compounds.

This application is particularly useful for process monitoring where both residual catalyst (nickel) and reaction intermediates/products need to be quantified accurately in a single method.
