Zemuron, an amino steroid muscle relaxant used during anesthesia, is analyzed using mixed-mode chromatography on the Zodiac HST C column. This hydrophobic and basic compound’s retention time is influenced by acetonitrile content, buffer concentration, and pH. Cation-exchange interactions are optimized by maintaining the mobile phase pH between 3 and 7.
