Mass Spectrometry-Compatible Separation of Fatty Acids Using Zodiac HST OG Column

Home Mass Spectrometry-Compatible Separation of Fatty Acids Using Zodiac HST OG Column

Description

This application highlights the efficient separation of saturated fatty acids — myristic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid — using the Zodiac HST OG mixed-mode HPLC column.

The method utilizes a mass spec-compatible mobile phase consisting of 70% acetonitrile (MeCN) and 0.1% formic acid (HCOOH), making it ideal for LC-MS workflows. Detection is performed using Evaporative Light Scattering Detection (ELSD), suitable for analytes with poor UV absorbance.

By leveraging both reversed-phase and ion-exchange properties, the Zodiac HST OG column offers excellent retention and resolution of long-chain fatty acids under high organic solvent conditions.
