Description
Uracil, a naturally occurring pyrimidine, is commonly used in drug formulations and as a void marker in reversed-phase chromatography. Uridine, a nucleoside formed from uracil and ribose, is a key component of RNA. Both compounds are slightly basic and highly hydrophilic. On the Zodiac HST S3 column operated in HILIC mode, uracil and uridine are effectively separated based on their polarity. Detection is performed using UV.
