HPLC Separation of the Nonionic Surfactant Triton-X-100 on Zodiac HST HB Column

Home HPLC Separation of the Nonionic Surfactant Triton-X-100 on Zodiac HST HB Column

Description

Triton X-100 is a non-ionic surfactant composed of a hydrophilic polyethylene oxide chain (averaging 9.5 ethylene oxide units) and a lipophilic hydrocarbon group. The Zodiac HST HB column, which operates on a hydrogen-bonding separation mechanism, is employed to separate oligomers of Triton X-100 under anhydrous conditions. The method uses a mobile phase of acetonitrile (ACN) and methanol (MeOH) with formic acid and ammonium formate (AmFm) as buffer components.

This approach enables effective analysis of Triton X-100 oligomers in various formulations—liquid, paste, powdered, and detergent matrices. The separation is compatible with multiple detection methods, including UV, ELSD, LC/MS, RI, and CAD.
