HPLC Separation of Sugar Phosphates on Zodiac HST SB Column

Home HPLC Separation of Sugar Phosphates on Zodiac HST SB Column

Description

Sugar phosphates are essential intermediates in biological systems, primarily involved in glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway. They function in cellular energy storage and transfer. Due to the combination of sugar and phosphate groups, these compounds are highly polar. Using the Zodiac HST SB mixed-mode column, glucose and fructose mono- and diphosphates were effectively separated. The separation is primarily driven by anion-exchange interactions, with diphosphates exhibiting stronger retention than monophosphates. Detection was carried out using ELSD.
