HPLC Separation of Ritonavir and Ribavirin on Zodiac HST- S3 Column

Home HPLC Separation of Ritonavir and Ribavirin on Zodiac HST- S3 Column

Description

Ritonavir and Ribavirin are two structurally and chemically distinct drugs with vastly different chromatographic behaviors. Using Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HILIC) on the Zodiac HST S3 column, both compounds can be effectively separated. Ritonavir, a highly hydrophobic and non-ionizable antiretroviral protease inhibitor, exhibits strong retention in reversed-phase systems. Ribavirin, a highly hydrophilic nucleoside analog used against DNA and RNA viruses, elutes much earlier. The Zodiac HST S3 column allows for simultaneous separation of both compounds in a single HILIC run, enabling efficient analysis of drug mixtures with contrasting polarity.
