Description
Alginate is commonly used in a variety of pharmaceutical preparations. It is a linear copolymer composed of homopolymeric blocks of (1-4)-linked β-D-mannuronate (M) and its C-5 epimer, α-L-guluronate (G), which are covalently bonded in different sequences or block arrangements.
Using the Zodiac HST C mixed-mode HPLC column, alginic acid can be effectively separated from benzoate, citric acid, and saccharin. This method is well-suited for the quantitation of alginic acid, citric acid, and saccharin in complex mixtures. Depending on the selected mobile phase, various detection techniques—such as UV, ELSD, or LC/MS—can be employed for accurate analysis.
