HPLC Separation of Acrylic Acid and 4- Methoxyphenol on Zodiac HST B Column

Home HPLC Separation of Acrylic Acid and 4- Methoxyphenol on Zodiac HST B Column

Description

Acrylic acid, when copolymerized with other monomers, forms copolymers that are widely used in the production of paints, adhesives, and plastics. Its esters and salts are collectively known as acrylates. 4-Methoxyphenol, also referred to as mequinol, serves as an active component in topical medications and is commonly used as an inhibitor of radical polymerization in monomers such as acrylates.

These two compounds can be effectively separated using a mixed-mode Zodiac HST B column with an isocratic HPLC method. The mobile phase consists of 20/80 acetonitrile (ACN) and water, buffered with 0.02% phosphoric acid. UV detection is carried out at 200 nm to ensure accurate analysis.
