HPLC Retention of N-Cyclohexylsulfamic Acid on Zodiac HST RP Column

Home HPLC Retention of N-Cyclohexylsulfamic Acid on Zodiac HST RP Column

Description

N-Cyclohexylsulfamic acid (cyclamic acid), commonly found as its sodium or calcium salt, is an artificial sweetener and a hydrophilic, strongly acidic compound. It was successfully analyzed using the Zodiac HST RP mixed-mode HPLC column with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile, water, and ammonium formate buffer. Since cyclamic acid lacks UV chromophores, it was detected using ELSD, and is also compatible with Corona or LC/MS detection techniques.

On the Zodiac HST RP column, the compound is retained through a combination of weak reversed-phase and strong anion-exchange mechanisms, allowing for robust and reproducible separation of this highly polar acidic analyte.
