HPLC- MS Method for Analysis of Rifampicin and Oxidation product on Zodiac HST OG Column
HomeHPLC- MS Method for Analysis of Rifampicin and Oxidation product on Zodiac HST OG Column
Description
Rifampicin:
Mechanism of Action: Inhibits bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, blocking RNA and protein synthesis.
Uses: Primarily for tuberculosis (TB), often in combination therapy. Also used for leprosy and meningococcal prophylaxis.
Analytical Method:
Rifampicin and its metabolite, rifampicin quinone, can be retained, separated, and analyzed using a Zodiac HST OG mixed-mode column with an isocratic mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and ammonium formate buffer. Detection can be performed using UV at 270 nm, Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD), or other evaporative detection methods (CAD, ESI-MS).
