HPLC MS Method for Analysis of Procaine on Zodiac HST OG2 Column

Description

Procainamide is an antiarrhythmic medication used to manage certain types of irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias), including atrial and ventricular fibrillation as well as atrial flutter. It works by stabilizing the heart’s electrical activity, helping to restore a normal rhythm.

Procainamide exerts its effects by blocking sodium channels in the heart, which slows down the conduction of electrical impulses. This action helps prevent abnormal electrical activity, reducing the likelihood of arrhythmias.

Procainamide can be effectively retained and analyzed using a Zodiac HST OG2 mixed-mode stationary phase column. The analysis is performed using a gradient elution method with a mobile phase consisting of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and ammonium formate as a buffer. Detection is carried out using UV at 280 nm.
