Home HPLC-MS Method for Analysis of Michler’s ketone on Zodiac HST- OG2 Column

Description

Michler’s ketone (4,4′-bis(dimethylamino)benzophenone) is an important intermediate in dye synthesis, used to produce Malachite Green, Methyl Violet, and Crystal Violet. Its electron-donating dimethylamino groups contribute to vibrant and stable dye colors.

Michler’s ketone can be retained and analyzed using a Zodiac HST OG2 mixed-mode column with an isocratic method and a mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and formic acid as a buffer. Detection is performed using UV at 371 nm.
