HPLC Method for Analysis of Phenylephrine HCl on Zodiac HST S1 Column
HomeHPLC Method for Analysis of Phenylephrine HCl on Zodiac HST S1 Column
Description
Phenylephrine HCl is a widely used decongestant found in many over-the-counter products such as Mucinex, Sudafed PE, Sinex, and other generic formulations. Beyond its role in relieving nasal congestion, it is also utilized in pharmaceuticals for pupil dilation, treatment of hypotension, and hemorrhoid relief.
Due to its UV absorbance in the low wavelength range, Phenylephrine HCl can be effectively analyzed using the Zodiac HST S1 normal-phase mixed-mode column. The chromatographic method employs a mobile phase composed of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and monosodium phosphate (NaH₂PO₄) buffer. Detection is performed using UV at 220 nm, enabling reliable retention and quantitation of the compound.
