Drotaverine, marketed under the brand name No-Spa in Europe, is an antispasmodic agent frequently used in clinical settings to promote cervical dilation during childbirth. Due to concerns about counterfeit products and unauthorized distribution in regions where it is not approved, a robust HPLC method is essential for accurate detection and impurity profiling.

Drotaverine can be effectively retained and separated from related impurities using a Zodiac HST B mixed-mode reversed-phase column. The method utilizes a gradient mobile phase of water and acetonitrile (MeCN), with sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) serving as the buffer.
