HPLC Method For Analysis Of Cysteine and Cystine on Zodiac HST OG Column

Cysteine is an amino acid that serves as a crucial component in numerous proteins throughout the body, while cystine—an oxidized dimer of cysteine—plays a key role in redox reactions and maintaining the structural integrity of proteins through disulfide linkages. Both cysteine and cystine can be effectively retained and separated using the Zodiac HST OG mixed-mode column. The analytical method employs a mobile phase composed of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄), enabling high-resolution separation with excellent peak symmetry. Detection is performed using UV at 200 nm.
