Description
Streptomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections and also applied as a pesticide. Recognized on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) list of essential medicines, streptomycin functions by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
Streptomycin can be effectively retained and separated on the Zodiac HST OG2 mixed-mode column through a combination of hydrophobic interaction and ion-exchange mechanisms. The analysis is performed using an isocratic method with an MS-compatible mobile phase composed of acetonitrile (ACN), water, and sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) as the buffer. Detection can be carried out using UV at 200 nm or mass spectrometry (MS).
