Piracetam, a member of the racetam drug family, has been studied for potential applications in treating myoclonus and enhancing cognitive function, though these uses are not approved by the FDA. Due to its chemical structure, Piracetam is detectable in the low UV range.

Using a Zodiac HST HB column—designed to separate compounds via hydrogen-bonding interactions—and a mobile phase composed of acetonitrile (MeCN) and water without buffer, Piracetam can be effectively retained and analyzed. The method offers high-resolution separation and allows for UV detection at 200 nm, enabling precise quantitation of Piracetam in various sample matrices.
