Description
Allantoin (C₄H₆N₄O₃), also known as 5-ureidohydantoin or glyoxyldiureide, is a naturally occurring compound found in plants such as chamomile, comfrey, wheat sprouts, tobacco seed, and sugar beet.
It can be effectively retained and analyzed using a Zodiac HST HB column, which employs hydrogen-bonding as the primary separation mechanism. The method uses an isocratic mobile phase of acetonitrile (ACN) and methanol (MeOH). Detection can be performed using low UV (210 nm) as well as ELSD, CAD, or LC/MS, offering versatile options for quantitation and identification.
