Description
Epinephrine, norepinephrine, and phenylephrine—structurally related catecholamines—are commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations. Due to their high polarity and structural similarity, separating epinephrine and norepinephrine poses a challenge. Using Zodiac HST TH mixed-mode HPLC column, these compounds are effectively separated via a combination of reversed-phase and ion-exchange mechanisms. The method is highly sensitive to pH variation, which can be tuned to optimize selectivity and retention. This approach is suitable for impurity profiling, stability studies, and quantitative analysis of catecholamines in formulations, blood, serum, or urine.
