HPLC Analysis of Malathion on Zodiac HST TH Column

Home HPLC Analysis of Malathion on Zodiac HST TH Column

Description

Malathion is the most widely used organophosphate pesticide in the United States. Commonly applied in residential landscaping and public recreational areas, it is frequently used for controlling fruit flies and mosquitoes. Although malathion itself is considered to have low toxicity to humans, it can metabolize into malaoxon—a much more toxic compound. Malathion is listed by the EURL as a target pesticide in the EUPT-CF9 monitoring program.

The Zodiac HST TH column is employed to retain malathion and effectively separate it from impurities. With embedded ionic and hydrophobic groups, the column supports mixed-mode interactions, enabling precise and efficient separation of complex pesticide mixtures. The method is LC/MS compatible and offers a robust solution for the analysis of malathion and other organophosphate insecticides.
