HPLC Analysis of L-Cysteine-S-Sulfate on Zodiac HST-SB Column

Home HPLC Analysis of L-Cysteine-S-Sulfate on Zodiac HST-SB Column

Description

Cysteine-S-sulfate (SSC), a potent NMDA-receptor antagonist, is formed through an as-yet-unknown reaction between inorganic sulfite and cystine. This highly polar molecule contains a basic group, a carboxylic acid group, and a sulfate group. Using a ZodiaA HST SB column, SSC is retained through a combination of strong anion-exchange and weak reversed-phase interactions. The compound can be effectively detected using LC/MS, ELSD, Corona CAD, or UV detectors. This HPLC method offers a robust and adaptable approach for analyzing acidic and hydrophilic drug compounds.
