HPLC Analysis of Hop Extracts in Beer Brewing Using ZodiaA HST-SB Column

Home HPLC Analysis of Hop Extracts in Beer Brewing Using ZodiaA HST-SB Column

Description

Hop extract is a complex blend containing alpha and beta acids, essential oils, tannins, and waxes. These components were effectively separated using mixed-mode HPLC on a ZodiaA HST SB column. The retention mechanism on this column combines reversed-phase and anion-exchange interactions. At elevated pH levels (3–5), the alpha and beta acids become ionized. Their retention times can be adjusted by varying the acetonitrile content, buffer pH, and buffer concentration. The ZodiaA HST SB column remains fully ionized across its operational pH range, ensuring consistent and reliable separation.
