HPLC Analysis of Diazinon on Zodiac HST TH Column

Home HPLC Analysis of Diazinon on Zodiac HST TH Column

Description

Diazinon is a nonsystemic organophosphate insecticide developed in the early 1950s. Once widely used as a general-purpose pesticide for indoor and outdoor home applications, it was banned for residential use in 2004 due to safety concerns. The thiophosphoric ester present in diazinon can degrade into toxic phosphine gases and phosphorus oxides. The compound is included by the EURL as a target pesticide in the EUPT-CF9 program.

The Zodiac HST TH column is utilized for the retention and separation of diazinon and its associated impurities. With embedded ionic and hydrophobic functionalities, this mixed-mode column enables fine-tuned separations for compounds with varying polarity and charge. The method is LC/MS compatible and serves as a reliable approach for the analysis of diazinon and other organophosphate insecticides.
