Citric acid and phosphate ions are separated by HILIC using the Zodiac HST S3 HPLC column, providing excellent peak shape for these highly hydrophilic compounds. This method is suitable for quantifying citrate and phosphate in various formulations. Due to the lack of UV activity, detection can be performed using LC/MS, ELSD, or Corona CAD. The method is also applicable for other hydrophilic organic and inorganic acids.
