It is primarily used to suppress coughing caused by conditions like respiratory infections or airway irritation. Benzonatate can be retained and analyzed using a Zodiac HST P1 mixed-mode stationary phase column. The analysis employs an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and ammonium formate as a buffer. This method allows for detection using UV at 310 nm.
