Description
Azinphos-ethyl is an organophosphate insecticide closely related to azinphos-methyl (AZM), a compound originally developed during World War II as a nerve agent. Due to significant health and environmental concerns, particularly for farm workers and aquatic life, AZM was phased out by the U.S. EPA in 2012. Azinphos-ethyl is listed by the EURL–SRM as a target pesticide for analysis in cereals and animal feed.
For chromatographic analysis, the Zodiac HST TH column is used to retain azinphos-ethyl and achieve separation from related impurities. The column features embedded ionic functionalities and hydrophobic chains, enabling fine-tuned separation of compounds with mixed-mode interactions. The method is LC/MS compatible and provides a reliable solution for the analysis of azinphos-ethyl and other organophosphate insecticides.
