HPLC Analysis of β‑Hydroxy-β-methylbutyric Acid Using Zodiac HST B Column

Beta-Hydroxy beta-Methylbutyric acid (HMB) is a widely used over-the-counter dietary supplement known to support increases in lean body mass and muscle size. It is also utilized in promoting wound healing and in preventing muscle degradation associated with age-related muscle loss.

Using the Zodiac HST B mixed-mode column, HMB can be effectively retained within 3 minutes under reversed-phase conditions. The separation is achieved with a mobile phase containing 10% acetonitrile (ACN) and 0.2% phosphoric acid buffer, enabling fast and efficient analysis. Detection is performed using UV at 200 nm.
