Description
The Zodiac HST B column efficiently separates tertiary amines like cetylpyridinium with excellent peak symmetry through a combination of reversed-phase and ion-exclusion mechanisms. Its embedded basic functional group shields underlying silanols, minimizing peak tailing. Retention can be finely adjusted by varying either the organic content or the acid concentration in the mobile phase—something not typically achievable with standard C18 reversed-phase columns. This method uses a mass spectrometry-compatible mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (MeCN, ACN), and trifluoracetic acid (TFA), with UV detection at 250 nm.
