Cation Separation by Ion-Exchange Chromatography on Zodiac HST OG Column

This application demonstrates the effective separation of inorganic cations using ion-exchange chromatography on the Zodiac HST OG column. A mixture containing Li⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, Mg²⁺, Ca²⁺, and Zn²⁺ was resolved under isocratic conditions using a MeCN/H₂O mobile phase (70/30%) with 0.2% TFA as the ion-pairing agent. Detection was performed using ELSD, enabling analysis of non-UV active ions. The method showcases the column’s strong cation-exchange capabilities and suitability for metal ion profiling in various sample matrices.
