Analysis of Glutathione oxidized (GSSG) on Zodiac HST OG Column

Home Analysis of Glutathione oxidized (GSSG) on Zodiac HST OG Column

Description

Oxidized glutathione (GSSG), also known as glutathione disulfide, is the oxidized form of glutathione (GSH), a key cellular antioxidant. When glutathione neutralizes free radicals or reactive oxygen species (ROS), it forms GSSG. The GSH-to-GSSG ratio serves as a crucial indicator of oxidative stress within cells.Cells regenerate GSH from GSSG using the enzyme glutathione reductase, provided there is sufficient NADPH, which plays a vital role in cellular antioxidant defense mechanisms.

Chromatographic Analysis:

GSSG can be retained and analyzed using a Zodiac HST OG reverse-phase column (4.6 × 150 mm, 5 µm, 100 Å) with a mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (MeCN), and sulfuric acid as a buffer. This method is monitored using UV detection at 200 nm.
