Analysis of Antibiotic Norfloxacin and Related Impurities in Mixed-Mode Chromatography

Norfloxacin is a first-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. For analytical purposes, it was retained and separated using the Zodiac HST TH and Zodiac HST RP columns. Zodiac HST TH, with its embedded ionic and hydrophobic groups, provides mixed-mode selectivity, while Zodiac HST RP offers robust reversed-phase performance. This combination ensures precise separation of norfloxacin and its related impurities and is fully compatible with LC/MS detection.
