Analysis of 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid on Zodiac HST B2 Column

2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) is a synthetic auxin herbicide that was widely used until regulatory restrictions in the 1970s. The European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) included 2,4,5-T as a target pesticide in the EUPT-SRM program using the QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Rugged, and Safe) sample preparation method.

For chromatographic analysis, Zodiac HST TH and Zodiac HST B2 columns were used to retain 2,4,5-T and effectively separate it from impurities. Zodiac HST B2 features embedded basic ion-pairing groups, while Zodiac HST TH offers mixed-mode separation through embedded ionic groups and a hydrophobic chain, allowing fine-tuned resolution of polar pesticides.

This method is fully compatible with LC/MS and serves as a reliable approach for analyzing 2,4,5-T and a broad range of similar pesticide compounds.
