Alachlor Separation on Zodiac HST B2 Column

Home Alachlor Separation on Zodiac HST B2 Column

Description

Alachlor is a herbicide that inhibits the gibberellin biosynthesis pathway. Due to its potential health and environmental risks, it has been banned by both the European Union and the U.S. EPA. The European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) includes alachlor in its multiresidue pesticide analysis protocols for products such as tea and chamomile, utilizing both liquid and gas chromatography.

A single multiresidue LC/MS-compatible method was developed using a combination of Zodiac HST B2 and Zodiac HST TH columns to analyze a wide range of pesticides. The Zodiac HST TH column features embedded ionic and hydrophobic groups, allowing precise control and optimization of complex separations. Meanwhile, the Zodiac HST B2 column incorporates embedded basic ion-pairing functionalities, offering strong retention and separation of polar and ionizable compounds.

This versatile method provides a robust and general approach for the LC/MS analysis of alachlor and other pesticides across various sample types.
