Description
Dimethylthiourea (DMTU), with the chemical formula (CH3)2NCSNH2, is a thiourea derivative used in research and industrial applications. It acts as a hydrogen bond donor and acceptor, participating in various reactions such as reduction. It also has properties useful for electrical conductivity and radiation absorption. Thiourea, (NH2)2CS, is similar in structure to urea, with sulfur replacing oxygen. It is used in organic synthesis, photography, hair preparations, and as a radioprotective agent in cancer therapy. In agriculture, it promotes germination and flowering. Both Dimethylthiourea and Thiourea can be analyzed using a Zodiac HST P1 mixed-mode column with a mobile phase consisting of water and Acetonitrile (MeCN), without a buffer. The analysis is detected via UV at 200 nm, providing high resolution and effective separation.
